The worldfamous star reveals in Expressen: It was very close that ABBA never happened.
ABBA-Björn wanted to become a Master of Engineering at KTH (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan). But then music got in the way. But because of it he will receive an honorary award at the annual Kompetensgala.
Now this years's Kompetensgala is over. TheGala, which is arranged by themagazine Chef, the executive organisation The Leaders, the gym chain SATS, The City of Stockolm and Sweden's HR Union and Talentum HR had it's big celebration on Grand Hotel in Stockolm. There were several surprising awards handed out during the evening. The main categories celebrated young inventors and leaders. On of them was Jeanette Saveros who was awarded Stockholm Stad's award "young executive".
- I'm very passionate for my coworkers and for the new technology. We, the young executives, still believe that the world can be changed, she said when she accpted her prize.
The sky is the limit
This years biggest surprise was the acceptance speech from the winner of the Honorary Prize. It went to Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson for making "Swedish music a huge export success". In Björn's acceptance speech he told the story that it was very close that nothing ever became of ABBA. When he was in high school and received career guidance he was very carefully studying what kind of work would pay the most. He noticed that theere was an "end of the line"-salary for most jobs. Except for Master of Engineering. That made him move closer to the KTH than to the recording studio.
- The sky is the limit. The high salaries were entcing, I was definitely going to KTH to study. So I could have been here tonight in a totally different capacity, said Björn Ulvaeus as he thanked for the Honorary Prize, which, btw Östen Mäkitalo received last year.
