After 32
years they have met for the for the first time – Anni-Frid Lyngstad and her
father. During all these years Frida has believed that her father was killed in
the war. Aweek a go they could finally give each other a hug – the world famous
singer and and the baker Alfred Haase from Westruhe in West Germany.
It was the the German magazine “Bravo”
who put the two together. In an article 14 days ago the magazine told the love
story in Norway between a German soldier and a a Norwegian girl. Result was was
Anni-Frid. Her mother died after two years and her father was reported killed
in the war. Anni-Frid moved to Sweden with her grandmother. One of ABBA’s many
fans showed the article and said “this my be my uncle”!. When the uncle Alfred Haase
got to know about the article he contactaed the magazine and they contacted
Anni-Frid.
INCREDIBLY
TENSE
This
weekend father and daughter are reunited at the hom of Lidingö. Anni-Frid is
clearly touched by meeting her father.
- I couldn’t go to the airport. I was so
tense before the meeting with him, Anni-Frid telles Göteborgsposten, the only
paper she wanted to discuss this matter with.
- When he arrived we just hugged. I don’t
remember much of what we said. Alfred Haase lived with Benny until Monday. He
also got to meet his grandchildren Lise-Lotte, 10 and Hans, 14.
- I was constantly nervous all the time.
The different in languages didn’t help alot either. My father told me he had
been very nervous to meet me. He had never known that he had a daughter. He
told me he saw my mother alone when she was walking along with a bucket. After
that they spent everyday until he was sent back to Germany.
- When I was a little girl I was told
that the he probably had been killed during the war. On a military transport,
Anni-Frid says to GP.
-
But I still fantazied about us meeting some day.
FINALLY THE
RELIEF IS GONE
-
Now
all my background came over me. After he has gone to back to Germany. The
reaction came several nights ago, I cried all night.
Anni-Frid’s
mother, Synni Lyngstad met Haase when he was a young officer in Ballangen
outside of Narvik during the end of the world in March of 1945. He went back to
Germany in March 1945. They met everyday for six months. Nine months later he
became the father of a girl. Alfred Haase never got to know that.
After
Synni’s death two years later her grandmother moved to Sweden.
-
She
was aware that “german children” had a very hard time in Norway. She moved to
give both myself and herself a new chance. We ended up in Torshälla outside of
Eskilstuna. That’s very my life really began.
Anni-Frid
has two half siblings now, Peder 30 and Karin 30.
We do look
alike. We have the same features, the same krooked pointfinger. My father and I
even have the same feet.
- So he is my father alright.
