Does anyone know what this award is for? Nice photo of Benny.

Nice to see Benny's picture! Yes, it's a nice photo of Benny!
I wonder why Benny sang so few songs during Abba years. "Suzy-Hang-Around" is one I remember has him as a vocalist. On "Lycka" he sings "Kära Gamla Sol", that is a really lovely song, and "Carousel". I think that he has much better voice than Björn's nasally tones.

The song I meant above is of course "En Karusell", swedish version of "Merry Go Round".

Is this ABBA-Wood-Award, Benny spoke abaut?
;o)

Benny was always my favorite of the two of the men. I agree it made no sense that I can see. I think it was a logical composing decision that they made that they split the writing chores up with him composing all the music melodies, and Bjorn writing lyrics, but he didn't need to play second string to Bjorn in any way musically. He could do it all; sing, play strings, and keyboard. I've no doubt he knows how to play other instruments as well. He wrote all of the hit songs in Hepstars, so why he didn't sing more leads in ABBA's catalog is always going to be one of the "unsolved mysteries."

As far as I remember, he said he's way too often off-key and this is the main reason why he doesn't sing.

Hey, I like this picture. Not as pretty as one with Agnetha or Frida in it, but it's okay to have one of just the guys from time to time.

Thomas, speaking of other instruments. I guess we all know Benny and Bjorn aren't the ones we're hearing playing the saxophones on "I Do, I Do..." (Uwe Anderson, I think), but I've watched that video so many times. If they weren't really playing, they were doing a remarkable job of faking it. Does anybody know if they can play saxophone?

Thomas Wilson

The truth is Mike, that the art of lypsynching is an art that isn't replicated these days at all. I think that they prefer to have either a video or the real thing since that was once a thing that was done because of the level of quality and difficulty, of reproducing a live performance. As to that live Marmokedet show in Norway in 1975, if that's the one your referring to. I think actually it was a little of both. The instruments were the real thing along with the Sax duo accompaniment. But the girls sadly were synched. I didn't used to care when I was a teenager in the 70's as long as I could see my fave performer. But when I got to be going to concerts in the late 70's early 80's I made sure what I was spending my time and money on was "the real deal," I've spent I think the last bit of time and money on a live show, with the exception of legends I've never seen like Led Zeppelin and Paul McCartney. I believe as far as ABBA is concerned "That ship done sailed." These days I spend my time on my love interest as she and I live in different countries and I've made her to understand I'm serious about living in Sweden, and Europe longterm.

Benny wanted to sing and I think that's the reason he was a little bit frustrated during the ABBA years. lol
