I was just over at icethesite reading the comments of people who got to attend. I'm so jealous!

I am happy for them.

What a great review for B&B. But why do people always leave Bjorn out of the actual melody writing process, giving sole credit to Benny? Bjorn doesn't just write the lyrics!

George (USA)

Russell Watson is absolutely freaking BRILLIANT, my god, I've never heard a voice like that transitioning so effortlessly between operatic and pop. So clear and pure and strong!
Sjoholm I know better, she's divine and Pitre and Odekirk are to die for.

MY GOD, they've assembled such INCREDIBLE singers, just jaw-dropping and chills-sending...

Sheiler:

I'm sure there's always some back and forth between B&B on every aspect of a song; but, really, Benny is the composer and Bjorn is the lyricist. Their roles haven't always been that distinctly defined, but for Kristina I think they are.

Watch The Making of a Masterpiece (part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VD51rknRU9U&feature=related ). It's in Swedish, but there's a lot to be gleaned from it even if you don't speak the language.

mikespeir, thanks for the link. this was very interesting to me. But I recall seeing or reading about B&B's writing process while in Abba and both spoke about the need to get the music right first. Both worked on the music. They usually attached gaga lyrics to go with the melody they were developing before working more seriously, later, on the lyrics.

Maybe this process changed when they moved on to writing Chess and Kristina.
