It is so sad all of that natural talent Agnetha has and all people talk about still is her bottom-give it a rest there is more to her than her bottom.

Personally, I suspect she didn't really care too much for that kind of display, though it sure looked like she did at the time. It seems to me that later, during their 1979 tour both she and Frida cut way back on the overt sexuality. It was probably something they thought they had to do at first to draw attention to their act. The fact is, they never needed to. Contrary to what this journalist suggests, they had an overwhelming talent that stood quite well on its own.

That "bottom thing" was promoted by ABBA almost ad nauseam pretty much until the very end.

Just listen to Bjorn introducing Agnetha as the blonde having the sexiest bottom before the As Good As New rendition at one of their 1980 (?!) Japanese concerts.

She wasn't his wife anymore, and the concert hall was apparently full of kids and yet he still had to say that tacky (and quite sexist, to be honest) thing.
And most astonishingly, I don't think he did it without prior Agnetha's approval.

In America, Bjorn would not mention "The Bottom" before that song, but say instead that Agnetha is his former wife but "still as good as new" (?!).

I hadn't heard that, George. I was going by the ABBA in Concert video, where the sexy displays are very toned down.

I'm still not convinced that Agnetha herself was too keen on it. She seems to be the shy type. I'm more inclined to believe Bjorn kind-of pushed it on her.

Mike, you can hear 'the sexiest bottom in the world' part on ABBA in Tokyo 03-17-1980 bootleg (I've just checked it). As for 'still as good as new', I believe it can be heard on all 1979 bootlegs...

Apparently, I am WRONG in thinking that Bjorn did not mention "The Bottom" during the 1979 American tour (North American, to be exact).

Toronto Star newspaper wrote about ABBA's final NA concert: "Faltskog's bottom did some independent bouncing of its own, thus deserving the separate introduction given it by her ex-husband Bjorn".

So it appears that Agnetha's bottom was mentioned throughout ABBA career at every possible opportunity by the group themselves and not just journalists as it's so often implied.
